Green Tea isn’t just for Dieting: Benefits of Green and Black Tea

There are many benefits to drinking green tea besides weight loss.  Black tea is a form of green tea, and they both have many benefits to one’s health.

These are some of the many benefits of green and black tea. For the best health benefits drink both.  Know your medical history and if you can consume caffeine before drinking these teas.  Green teas tend to have about 40 mg of caffeine with black tea having slightly more.  This will vary on the brand, and can be a challenge to find out, as many aren’t labeled.

I recommend finding a certified organic brand to get the most health benefits. You can buy them in bulk online to save money. You can alternate days you have green tea and black tea.  On days when I want more caffeine I put a bag of each in my cup and steep it.  Tea can be simple, and doesn’t have to be a production like using a tea kettle or coffee pot for coffee drinkers.  Simply pour clean water into a mug and microwave it, then steep your tea for three to four minutes and you are on your way to improving your health. Also keep in mind that drinking these teas is most beneficial when eating a healthy diet and exercising. For folks who are prone to anxiety, limit your caffeine intake and drink more black tea.  Even if it has more caffeine, it has a more calming effect on the central nervous system, and is a must for people with chronic pain and inflammatory problems. Many of you may be indulging in cookies and eggnog this time of year, and green tea might help prevent some weight gain, and will certainly help you when you go on a diet January 1, as many people tend to do.  So drink up!
